Consecration to Our Lady
This short prayer of consecration to Our Lady is widely spread in Catholic devotion, especially in Brazil. Although its authorship is sometimes attributed to Saint Alphonsus Liguori, its exact origin is debated. The faithful pray it to entrust themselves entirely to the maternal protection and guidance of the Virgin Mary.
O my Lady and my Mother, I offer myself entirely to you, and in proof of my devotion to you, I consecrate to you this day and forever, my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, and my entire being. And because I am thus yours, O incomparable Mother, keep me and defend me as your property and possession. Amen.
When to pray
It is a prayer of personal consecration that can be prayed daily or on special occasions of Marian devotion, such as feast days of the Virgin Mary.
